Would I have any problems or issues removing the catalytic converter from my 1987 325ic. I am replacing the muffler and I thought since my car turned 25 I might as well take it out when im under there. Washington state emission cutoff is when it turns 25 I believe.

If I want a cat removed, I tend to take them out to the ocean and drop them off the side. They don't come back after that.Pulling my hair out with all these friggin BMW's:
2000 M5 Winter beater
1984 318i Coupe 2.5 S14 going in the car below.
1988 M3 Lachssilber: I'm the second owner, currently recommissioning.

Removed my cat. I have headers and an old, worn out OEM muffler. Exhaust is kind of buzzy with a hint of drone. Not the greatest sounding, but hey, no cat. Sounds good around 6k though! :)90 325i DD/Track

there is NO reason to remove it, except for mod list status.
also, no shop will remove your cat. It may not be a WA requirement, but it is a federal one. you are going to gain nothing for your effort, except for an emptier wallet.

JUST a cat removal? or did you change other things?
if it was just the cat, then it must have been damaged. Factory non-cat 325i's make 3hp more, at the crank, than a catted 325i. And they have higher compression ratios and more agressive tuning.
to gain 10whp, you'd have to gain like 12bhp. that's 4x as much power as the factory tuned non-cat M20B25 made, with higher compression, better fuel, and better tuning. uh huh.
