confusion on 325i to 327 oil cooler lines/filter

Yeah, I know there's many threads about the 2.7 stroker, but I can't really find anything about this.

I have a 325i right now and I'm wanting to convert to a 2.7 stroker. Located a (questionably European) 528e with a 10/87 build date in the junkyard. Took apart the head, and it has the 'dome' Super ETA pistons. I didn't actually get a chance to take the longblock out of it yet because the yard was just about getting ready to close when I pulled the head off.

Anyway, I got home, and looked at my engine bay and noticed oil cooler lines. I didn't pay attention as to whether or not the engine in the yard has got oil cooler lines (apparently ETAs don't have them?) and I can't really check until tomorrow... So my question is what do I do with my oil cooler lines if I swap the longblock? And what do I do with the oil filter? The location of the oil filter from the I is parallel with the block, while the ETA and Super ETAs seems to be perpendicular to it.

    Thanks for clearing things up

Use the oil filter and cooler setup from your car. The 528e block will have a little female-to-female adapter where the oil filter goes. Just take that out and your oil cooler will bolt right in.

Oh, and when I say questionably European 528e, the car had no cluster or headlights, but on a sticker on the windsheild it said 1988 528e UK. The VIN number sticker on the door sill is good up until the last 3 digits. I checked the VIN on the dash through my phone for the build date while I was at the yard, but forgot to actually write it down so I can't really say...

Also another thought, I read somewhere that just the the pistons and camshaft from the 528 Super ETA were supposed to be swapped, not the whole longblock? I'm just kind of rambling on at this point.

Pretty sure you meant crankshaft up there.

Whole bottom end. Pistons, crank, and block itself. Throw the "I" head on there with "I" intake mani and forward. Getcha some headers for the other end and have fun.

Just did this build for a friend. We removed the pistons and had the block honed/de glazed and cleaned, along with everything else.

Also, 528e was only a NA car. If it was Euro it'd be a 528i and be a M30B28 car, or a 525e and be a M20B27, 2.7 eta engine.
