    Charcoal Canister

I did a quick search but found nothing conclusive.

I work with motorcycles and on imported motorcycles (Ducati, Aprilia, Triumph) these bikes come with these canisters and alot of people remove them. Usually good for a few hp bump. (dyno has proven it) Does it work the same way on our cars or no?

I'm pretty sure its just part of the vacuum system to clean up the air for emissions. I know the little bastard popped off my throttle and was giving me idle issues which took a bit of hunting to find. Unlikely that removing it will give you noticeable power gains though...

You won't get a power increase by removing the canister. The DME controls the valve that is in between the canister and intake and it compensates for the additional air flow when it periodically opens the valve.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

the only thing that will happen by removing it is a reduction in fuel economy. it takes fuel vapors that would normally disappear into the air and lets the car burn them.

maybe if it's completely saturated with oil or something. I know mine is pretty nasty, actually..
