    87 2.7i piston choices

I have a complete m20b25 I'm in the process of rebuilding, I may be getting a free '86 m20b27. Can I use this setup for a 2.7i build?

    Fresh bearings
    Fresh rings
    eta crank
I rods (or is the e rod setup preferred?)
    I pistons (shaved 2-3mm?)
    Stock bore, already honed
    885 head

I have access to a lathe, I just need to know if its worth getting the block and doing the stroker rebuild.

Shaving the pistons is a big PIA from what I have read. Little info on it, and you actually have to shave them around 6-7mm

What kind of comp ratio does the eta crank/rod with i pistons result in?

Very low compression. If you use eta rods/crank and i pistons, the pistons will be below the block deck by 2mm. You need to shave the block to make it work proper.

Hmmmm, not what I want to get into. I'd prefer stock cam gear and keep the changes internal. What is the difference between the eta crank and m50/m52 crank? I believe I remember seeing this as an option
