Cooling system issue

sup rev ok, so i just recently swapped a 1989 325i motor into my 1987 325i the coolant reserve tank has extra hose that normally leads to water pump however the 1989 water pump has 1 less inlet than the 1987. could i just use a 1987 water pump or will i have to convert the entire cooling system ??

Just go ahead and use the 87's water pump. Totally compatible

Yes, you need to swap the water pump to the early style.
