    Replace rocker arms?

Hey guys. So as I was pulling my head apart to bring it to the machine shop I was having trouble removing the intake rocker shaft. The rockers were sticking to the shaft. I managed to get them free with some force but I seem to have very lightly marred the surface that rides on the rocker shaft. Am I going to have to replace the rockers? Is the surface in the rockers that ride on the rocker shaft a replaceable bushing/bearing?

    Thanks in advance, Angelo.

The rockers don't have replaceable bearings. Whether they need to be replaced depends on the extent of the damage. Show those rockers to the folks at the shop and get their opinion as to the extent of the damage.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I see, hopefully they're reusable. Thanks for the info.

if you are going to all that trouble, it would be advisable to repalce the rockers anyway

Oh, I'd bet that what you're feeling is the engine varnish that builds up on the rocker shafts. It feels like the rockers are sticking as you take them out.

Now, everyone's advice still holds- if this is anything more than a 'get it running cheap'
excercise, replacing the rockers, shafts and cam is not money wasted.

              for next time:
i always spray brake clean on the rocker arm shafts before removing the rockers. the fluid cleans the shaft and provides some lubrication to get them to slide freely.
              Much wow
