    Check engine light question

I have an 87 325ic. I cannot find any information on when the e30's first started having check engine lights... If mine has it, the bulb might be burnt out... Any thoughts???

Correct, and since they were kind of an afterthought, they are frequently missed on reinstallation of the instrument cluster since they have to be installed in a port separately.

If you wanted it for diagnostic reasons, the 153 DME in your '87 sports something like four not very helpful codes. Your better off diagnosing driveability issues the old fashioned way.

The abs light also has two prongs and plugs into the cluster. make sure you have the right one. Looking at the back of your cluster, the abs light hole will be on the left side, and the check engine light hole on the right side.
