    AC Condenser Fan replacement...

    Fan started to make a god aweful noise and I'm wondering if there are any aftermaket replacements out there that are better than just going with another OEM.


    Current: '92 325i Vert

    Past: '84 Euro 320i -Had to leave in Italy

          Are the stock fans 1 speed or 2 speed? I removed mine in lieu of an A/C delete (Because Shitcar). I tested it to see if it worked, and only got 1 speed to work so I'm unsure.

            ^2 speed. A lot of times the resistor pack for low speed burns out and the fan will only kick on in high speed when the high range of the coolant temp. switch closes. You can usually verify the low speed side by pushing your A/C button, or by jumping power and ground directly to their respective pins in the 3-pin fan connector behind the driver side headlights.

            OP, did you visually inspect it to make sure you don't have some kind of debris stuck in the blades?

              +1, the fan has 2 speeds. Looking at the wiring diagram Red wire is High Speed, and Black wire goes through the resistor for Low Speed. Brown of course it ground.

              I, along with many other PRO3 drivers, use the stock AC fan as the actual radiator fan. It's a really nice piece (and cheap), and kept my car at 180F constant throughout the past race weekend.
