    '87 325e - 327i Dyno results

Finished my 327i a couple weeks ago. Used a EU 323i, 731 head with the 323i cam. Head was recently rebuilt. so it was checked for warpage and bolted onto the 325e block. The rest of the parts followed the 1.3 Motronic upgrade here in M20 section, super easy. First AutoX, I had a tough time finding any traction, due to the huge jump in power. Everywhere I could flat foot, no longer possible due to traction problems. The 1st to 2nd shifts are so sweet with the 3.73 LSD, but I now have to get used to a transformed machine. Good stuff. 139hp/149ft lbs of torque.

Yes making me happy currently gathering parts for this. Any advice on anything? How big was the difference from the eta?

The manifold/TB/cps from a '90 325i. Using the 173 ECU and eBay chip, the wiring harness was from a '88 i. Plug and play all the way. Too simple. The difference from the eta is night and day. Old eta never squatted down and lifted its nose before on the 1st to 2nd shift.

Very worthwhile upgrade if you have an eta!

            ~178HP @ Crank

            Very respectable.

I'm donig an 885 head onto an 86 325e bottom end. Thinking of building the head up some, to get ~ 200HP @ crank ideally.

I am most pleased. This is the first time anyone has done a swap like this and bothered to post actual dyno results. Thanks and subscribed!

Gary, thanks so much for posting that. I have been bouncing back and forth what to do motor-wise on my next car. You make this combo sound pretty fun. I also have a M20B23 complete, and at least 2 complete M20B25s, and can get my hands on a B27 as well...so I can build any of these combos pretty easily.

I have built 2 2.7/1.3/885 combos, they are loads of fun, likely the most fun you can have per dollar of any ETA upgrade.

Oh, typical "Luke Luck", right as I get all the crap together to do that M20 (after I sold my S50 that I never got to install in my car) a 24V motor just fell into my hands after I sold almost all of my 24V swap parts...

                Closing SOON!

After planning this conversion for a year, I just had to see what the final results were. Wish a baseline 325e pull had happened, but from what I can find, looks like about 75-80 rwp? Is there a common formula for our cars to roughly determine crank output from rwp? I guessed seat of pants, a 60hp increase over the eta. M

I'm pretty new to the e30 world still. I have a 84 325 e and I've been looking for some more grunt out of the m20. Preferably without having to pull the motor. This may be the way to go, I also have a 3.73 lsd.

This is awesome. I just took my 2.7i (supereta pistons, 885 head) to its first autocross this weekend. Don't have a video or Dyno graph, but I may be getting one soon. If I do it will definitely get posted here for comparison.

                        That thing looks like fun!

I love this car! I've seen it do autocross, rallycross, and a dyno day. I'm trying to convince Gary he needs to hit a drift event and show the kids how it's done. ;)

what diff are you running? I have a similar set up. 86 eta block with a rebuilt/decked 885 head. 89 1.3 harness 173 w/ ebay alpina b3 chip copy. My only downfall is im still running the eta exhaust and the 2.93. Over all the car still pulls great and if anything its still just as fast as or faster than a stock b25.
