Still stalling at WOT in sweepers.

    Fellow Enthusiasts:

Still running into the stalling dilemma. I've replaced everything from 02 sensor, FPR, CPS, Spark Plugs, Injectors, Coil, fuel pump..

This past Friday, I take a sharp sweeper at about 40MPH in WOT on 2nd gear and the car just shuts off. I coast to a complete stop. Try to start back up, doesn't turn over. I leave the car sitting for about an hour, I come back, and it starts back up like nothing happened.

Saturday, first run at the auto cross. Same thing: Long sweeper, car stalls, wait about 30 minutes and it started back up.. Voila!

Fuel related? I'm thinking that in the sweepers, the fuel sender unit is not operating. Just shooting in the dark..

    Suggestions?

I have the car at a shop that deals with electrical issues. Hopefully they find the problem.

    Thanks in advance!

Does it do this even at full tank? I had a similar problem where my car would lay down in a sweeper if i was below half tank.

There is a collision sensor located behind the speaker next to the clutch. I think it just stops fuel flow. Just a thought

Good thought. My fuel level sensor is erratic at times and gives me wrong readings.

What did you do to fix the problem? replace the sender? Some have mentioned that if its low, and sucking air, this will happen.

Can that easily be removed and the car function as normal?

This happened to me for months at the same sweeping on ramp, only I could restart in a minute or so. One day a light came on. I threw some methyl hydrate (gas line antifreeze) in the tank & it hasnt repeated in the 10 years since.

              I vote for tank crud.

This could be a case of rust in the tank. When agitated rust that has settled to the bottom of the tank can collect on the fuel pump inlet screen and choke off flow. After the car sits for a while with the engine off the rust will fall off the screen and settle out, restoring normal operation. Pull the pump/sensor from the right side of the tank and use a penlight while stirring the bottom of the tank with a stick to see if there is a layer or rust. If there is the tank can be replaced or removed, acid cleaned, and sealed.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
