Twin pump early car. What cheap pump to you switch to for the external pump??

So I searched through a bunch of threads. I see the cheap upgrades for the late model cars.
I however have an early car. My external pump may not be with me much longer. It has a pump other than stock but no part number or stickers on it.
What pump do you guys recommend?

i was thinking of running a bosch 044 external pump. basically you can run any kind of externally mounted pump you like. just as long as its 12v and its flow and pressure rates are enough for your engine.

what are you changing the pump for? have you built up a more powerfull motor that the old one cant supply? or is the original one playing up?
theres no power to make from just a pump upgrade.

also with twin pumps are you going to upgrade the 1st lift pump? theres a chance a huge external cant be feed if the lift pump isnt up to the task. there is different views on this though.
my plan is walbro 255 or simular, possibly e46 m3 tank pump, as a lift pump, intermediate surge tank, and bosch 044 external to fuel my m20b25 turbo project.

^--Yes I know I need to match all the specs of the OE pump.
The stock bosh pump is like $200. I was looking for cheaper options.
The car has already a pump on it that its not OE I just dont know what it is.
Its on it way out (kind noisy) so I want to change it before it dies.

I used Tre pumps...much cheaper than Bosch. Stay away from AirTex.

I installed the 255 lph Tre pump in my tank. A little fab work, but then I could delete all the 2nd pump stuff. My 86 runs like a champ and it's totally silent. Cheaper option too - and less moving parts. You have to find some 30r10 fuel injection hose to bridge between the pump itself and the tube that feeds the rest of the fuel system. 30R10 may be immersed in fuel. 30r9 and lower will disintegrate.

Make sure the 30r10 is the larger size hose, not 5/16. You can get 5/16 to work, but you really have to try and stretch the hose.

Lots of writeups on how to do this.

However I just spent the money to fix the in-tank pump.......

I'm in the mood to do just that! I see more than one kind of 255 on ebay. Which one do I need? Do you have to put it on the stock hanger or can you buy one with a hanger? Mustang kit? I need the info! How do I obtain said Mustang kit?

I also use the TRE 255 pump. Search it up. Cheap and best option.

Looks like the TRE-340 is the 255 LPH pump. Couldn't seem to find a model TRE-255... Plus the guy over there emailed me to let me know it would fit my car. So I'm thinking this is the one.
