There is a thread somewhere here or e30tech, I forgot, where the teeth don't line up with the timing belts grooves.

        Research that

I look at it this way. This is a critical part. IE it fails and my Engine is F'd and im out $$$$. I enjoy going through parts catalog and seeing note like "we do not sell our stuff on ebay". Which in turns means some third world country underpaid person reverse engineered a peice and than some sweat shop pounded them out.
As for me would I run it? NO!
Buy cheap parts pay later that part and more. my motto.

For the same price you get a proven one and support a local business

They don't make them, the person who makes those is the same supplier as the ebay pieces. The supplier is simply doing them via private label (and they in turn buy a bunch of stronger bolts via McMaster-Carr).

I would challenge that, perhaps there are ill-fitting batches out there, but a proper test would be to compare to an actual OEM cam gear (and not to a belt). This bit of quality-control is probably NOT done by the ebay guys (since it's an extremely small part of their overall business). Ideally you would buy it from someone who HAS taken the time to do some proper QC.

For example, here's a cam gear comparo with the OEM late gear and one of the batch of "ebay gears" I've got sitting out on the shelf, looks pretty similar to me.

As far as I'm aware there are 2-non ebay based gears out on the market, the first being Nuke Performance and the second being VAC
I'm suspecting that the Nuke Performance is originally made in China (though it would directly through them [or a third party contractor]). The VAC pulley uses a used pulley gear. So all in all there's negatives and positives about every gear out there, just depends on you.

yes the ebay people seem a little fishy. even tho the gears may be the same id feel safer buying from a forum sponser ect.
