Eta spec to i spec conversion

I've been (slowly) gathering up what I need to swap out the engine in my '86 eta for an '89 325i engine. I'm now under a deadline, and I need to have this project completed inside two weeks. Both cars are automatics, and I'll be swapping out the transmissions as well, since the i spec car had a lot fewer miles on it, and my daughter's '84 eta needs the flex plate (flywheel) for her car. For some reason, she doesn't like that screeching sound when the starter gear finds that bare spot on the ring gear.

The parts I have gathered for the task, many from an '89 325i donor car:

    engine harness
    AFM
    DME
7000 rpm tach (along with the rest of the cluster)

I'm looking for an i-spec coding plug for the tach.

    Am I missing anything?

      The whole shebang.

It's kind of a long story as to how I got into this project. The short version is basically I have a 325i parts car and the engine in our eta has gone south. Soooo.... Rather than buy another engine, I figured I'd just convert to i specs.

Haven't done it. Seem to be a few schools of thought-

          1. if you go e to i- do it as budget as possible- pursuant to that goal- http://strictlyeta.net/technical/328i_1.html

and there is a LOT of info on here about that mod- someone will come along and gripe at you for not using the search function- but it won't be me.

          2. If (some argue "when") you realize how much you'll actually spend, and it's more than you initially planned, ditch the M20 and go with an M/S5X swap.

took me like three seconds to copy/paste it- FOR SCIENCE!!

this is a great write up about the e to i swap but it focuses on the eta bottom end and the i top end, for me, i am doing the whole engine swap but thanks for the help!!
