The E to i ECU conversion

There's a Canadian tuner named Mark who makes a tune to convert the ETA ECU to work with the ETA harness with an i head.
So far I have an 885i head
    2.7L bottom end
    ETA ECU Dinan chip
    Factory ETA ECU

What are the differences between the two heads to require a new harness?
I know the AFM is different.. and a couple other things
    What is a DME?
Do you need to change the ICV? Idle control valve?
I also heard something about the injectors being low/high impedence?

How hard is it to swap out the harness?
Can I run the 885i head on the 2.7L block with the Dinan chip until I can get the new tune from Mark?
    Has anyone used Mark's tune?

Would all the connectors line up with both harnesses?

    • What are the differences between the two heads to require a new harness?
the head itself: dual valve springs, cam, valves, and port sizes.
    • What is a DME?
It's the german way of saying ECU
    • Do you need to change the ICV? Idle control valve?
      Yes
    • How hard is it to swap out the harness?
Not hard, but you must grind the firewall hole a bit larger to fit the new ecu plug through.

      no

no, you need the new harness and some new connections. You can't do this swap with JUST the head.

You're going to need a lot more than just the head to do this. It is WORTH THE EFFORT, TIME, and MONEY however. I can vouch for that ;)
Search a bit; there is a PLETHORA of information on this forum with a bunch of great members and write-ups.

You should probably start here: http://www.strictlyeta.net/technical/328i_1.html

It'd be a good idea to try and find a complete m20b25 engine (what I did) and swap everything over from that.

Just keep in mind that they converted to a 2.8l (meaning it was modified). If you keep everything stock and just do the swap you'll keep at 2.7l
