    What am I overlooking?

    Car- 86' 325 w/auto transmission

The car will not start. When I first gave it a a go the fuel lines were shot and started pissing fuel, replaced those. Spark plugs were shot, replaced those and have spark. Checked for fuel at FPR and I'm getting plenty (per bentley).

The car sat for a year or more before I purchased it, due to whatever it is I cant figure out. It turns over no problem but never starts. I checked out the wiring around shifter and it had been sheared by the selector somehow, so that is wired back up as well. Any thoughts on what to check next just PM me or post here.

    Thanks,
    Ben

This is difficult to diagnose without seeing the car, could be water temp sensor, relays, ecu, etc...

Verify spark, fuel and compression. Also check you are getting AC voltage from the CPS sensor. Sometimes tired M20 just need to be cranked over for around 10 seconds if they have not been started for over a year.

Additional items to check are severe vacuum leaks, ICV operation.

no compression? try a couple drops of oil down the bores. id also recomend changing the oil if that works as all the fuel that was going in trying to start would have mixed with the oil in the sump.

also have you checked all your fuses? if wiring was damaged it may of blown some fuses. and also swap the main dme relay with a known good one. it may have seized or corroded or just failed.

Found out the fuseable link had been swapped for lower gauge wire, so we replaced that. Did notice some blackness in the wire that the link is inline with. I know this goes to the ECU and not sure what damages could have been done.

            Also replaced the main relay.

Idk how I had fuel at the rail before since none of the fuel pumps seem to be working. Car still cranks nice and hard, sounds like it cranks harder if we put in starter fluid but will not start.

if you have an 86 then you have a 325e/es (correct me if i'm wrong) then check your CPS/reference sensor on the bell housing for specs.
