      aye?

bma auto parts seems to be the best so far for pricing. but does anyone trust goetze? or is there better brands out there.

the motor will be running boost.

As mentioned before, most replacement parts places are getting their parts through the same wharehouse chains (worldpac, IMC, SSF, etc.). Use whichever parts-supplier you feel most comfortable (or trust to lead you in the right direction). Also keep in mind that shipping anything over 36" in length to NZ gets extremely expensive.

As for brands, while there are some that I'd consider inferior they typically are easy to spot by being considerably cheaper than others.

Depending on the part Goetze is an OEM supplier so in general the parts are nice.

For rings and bearings I only use BMW parts as those are critical pieces of the engine. It makes no sense to cheap out there. Also understand that you must measure the crank journals and order bearings of the "color" that will result in the correct clearance. I have not seen a source for all the "colors" except from BMW. See the Bentley or the TIS for more information on this. Also understand that you must check the block for cylinder wear and if within spec have it cross hatch honed.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

ive got the motor apart. its wear is good. no top lip, clear cross hatching still present.
ill measure it correctly soon when i get time and rehone it as well. and also measure and identify what bearings i need

ill price genuine bmw parts at work tomorrow. and find out what brand they are.

i know internal parts are critical and i shouldnt skimp. but my 2nd son was just born and funds are low. but im getting withdrawl from working on my car. so trying to sneak some motor building in under the mrs' nose haha.

FWIW I get all my "genuine" parts from the dealer after checking getbmwparts.com and they never hesitate to match those "wholesale prices". I pay sales tax, save freight (about a wash), get great service & get to fondle all the new BMW's :-)

Im sure NZ has a different pricing model so I assume it will pay to ship some items.
