So story is i came about an 86 es with an I motor but it idles very rough but when you give it gas its fine. I no way shape or form have any m20 experiance what so ever, what should to be first things i go about checking?

Have a shop perform a smoke test to find your vacuum leaks. And yes, put your post in the technical forum section.Comment

Also you can start by checking the intake boot and all vacuum lines visually. Smoke test is the only way to be sure. Even the smallest intake leak makes a huge difference. Pull your oil dipstick/cap with the motor running and it'll usually stall.- Josh
