    Oil pressure light question

    After having my timing belt, water pump, and altenator replaced about 2 wks ago, the oil pressure light started coming on at idle. It goes off with acceleration. Last night, the low oil sensor came on. The oil level has remained in the normal range. No problems with drivability. Any ideas? Oil pump?

    Get a gauge on it before you panic.

    Then, if it's low, put 15- 50 or 20- 50 in it and try again.


    The oil sensor sometimes has a mind of its own, too, so fill it to the top mark,
    drive a bit, and see what happens.

      the oil level senders do sometimes go nuts the best thing to do is to just keep your pan toped off and when you pull your engine put a crank scraper and and oil pan baffle in

          What weight oil are you running? the switch is 7psi if I recall correctly, so it is possible for it to come on at idle/flicker and still be safe. If it consistently is on at idle, there is an issue if the lamp is illuminating at the right value.

            Thanks! The switch was reading 6psi...it increased to 7psi with 20 wt oil. The oil sensor turned off with oil at the full level.

              These oil sensors tend to leak. If you have oil leaked and accumulated on the sensor it can give you funky readings.
