    Swapping to 1.3

    I have a 87 325ic I have been told I can just swap in a 173 ecu since I already have the I motor is this true? I think it has a 153 in there now

      A 173 or later DME will do a better job of idle speed regulation, supports the stomp test, and has better tuning chip availability.

        I did this with my 88ix that had the 153, it should make you your check engine light blink codes to you
        Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

          I tried both a 173 and a 524 in my '87 sedan. Both of them smoothed out the idle and provided a smoother application of power. You can swap in any E30 ECU 173 and on and they will provide about the same results.
