High idle after afm and icv cleaning - **FIXED** SEE LAST POST

I have a high idle after cleaning the afm and icv (they were very dirty)
No hoses werw touched so no vacum. The idle before wasat 900 steady now it flunctuate between 1100 an shoots to 1500 and then back and that is all is doing oing back and forth.
Also iclean the icv with break cleaner. Did i mess up?

Check the elbow that goes into the throttle body. Every time you touch the ICV you can create a vacuum leak there. Most users JB weld that sucker tight.

I made sure the icv was well plugged to the elbow no vacuum there

It sounds like a vacuum leak

Your symptoms are classical vacuum leaks. Time for a smoke test.

That is strange since this morning the car is idle perfect then i clean the fm and icv and this happen. I will wait until tomorrow and turn the car on again it might be that the chemicals still to rich inside rhe icv and afm

Yeah if it just did it for a few seconds that could be the case. Drive it a few miles and see if it changes.

Ok i guess i f'ed up the icv. The idle still does not settle, it fluctuates between 1000 and 1500 other than everything is fine and no lights are on. Any other ideas?

go buy some swishers and smoke it lol seriously that's what I do when I don't have access to a smoke machine and it works.

I don't think you could have messed up the ICV, if anything the AFM is a bit more touchy...

The vac hose going to the FPR is a good one

Dude...it is easy to do a smoke test. It is best to eliminate any possibility of vacuum leaks before looking at other components when you have weird idling issues.

Will try the smoke test with the swishers. I'm just puzzle that everything was fine in the morning did the cleaning and put them back and now a high idle. I'm frustrated with this ETA.

Have you tried to wiggle the elbow going into the throttle body? Every time someone tries to clean the ICV, he/she always manages to make that connection loose.
