    alpina c1 2.3

I have looked an can not find out any info on the motor other then the spec stats. it was a 2316 Capacity, 170hp 165ft. i wish to build one of these motors to put in my 323i. No i am not going to do a 2.5, 2.6 or 2.7 swap. just want some real good info on what they did to make the power up to there

As I recall, they started with an M20B27 (ETA) engine. Different pistons and perhaps an overbore would have been used and the head would have been serious re-worked or from some other M20 engine. I'd guess on a different cam and DME programming.

A true stroker and appropriate tuning can get to those power levels.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

20bhp came from CR increased from 9.8 to 10:1 with new Alpina mahle piston, hemi chamber and ported head (like other alpina heads), 268 camshaft and free flowing exhaust.

      so nothing terribly special

Would putting a 885 head an a cam on there be worth it by chance? Not sure if that would work with the the stock pistons or not. An any idea on where to get higher cr pistons for the b23? I know i can do a sticker an drop that in been there done that but i want to keep it a 2.3
