    overheating/coolant issues

hi,im trying to troubleshoot a weird heating issue.

So my car has been running fine for awhile, til one day i was getting on the freeway pretty hard and blew a radiator hose off the thermostat housing,so i replaced my radiator refilled the coolant, bled the air (i think).

but now, my temp sender reads im over heating within 5mins of idle,my coolant light comes on,my upper radiator hoses get hot but i cant feel any water running threw them,my heater barley works and my water pump is maybe 5k new.

someone have an idea? i have no clue how or what to troubleshoot at this point.

    thanks for your time,tim

A hose would only blow off from over heating or a leaking head gasket. Would help if you said what engine, its history etc but if there is really no water circulating in that hose and your water pump is new, it's probably your thermostat stuck close.

Sounds like you still have air trapped in the coolant system. I would bleed the system again.

Initially with the car not running open the coolant reservoir and then open the bleed screw on the thermostat. Add water until it starts flowing out of the bleed screw port, then close the bleed screw and install the coolant cap but keep it loose.

Start the car and allow it to idle to operating temperature. Once at temperature, reopen the bleed screw which will allow any remaining trapped air to escape.

Check the coolant level, you will most likely have to add a little bit of coolant to the reservoir.

Drive the car and repeat if necessary.
