Most likely a cracked head. Less common is a cracked block but mixing of the two fluids is usually cracked head.

If the head was ever removed, it should have been checked for leaks, and re-leveled.

I've been pretty busy so I have not removed the head but like I mentioned before, the head was completely gone through when I rebuilt it. It was tanked, decked, new valve seals, valve guides, valves etc.

What's strange is that that little bit of gunk in the reservoir was all that was in my coolant. I'll take pictures but what drained out of the motor was green as could be. I really only had coolant in my oil - not so much the other way around.

So the problem was the headbolts?

That's what I'm suspecting. I'll get the head checked out to be sure. If it turns out the head work I paid a boatload of money for was shit, I might punch a baby deer.

Metric blues are only good up to 12lbs at max. Its still better than stock head bolts. No offence if you spent 2k on your engine why cheap out on head bolts...

Tell me about it. FYI I wasn't boosted. I made that comment mocking the fact that I wasn't boosted and they still let go.

I put in metric blues with the intention of boosting when I bought a DD - ~9psi but haven't reached that point yet. With that being said, even before this happened, I had plans to pull the blues and do ARP studs before I ever put a snail on it.

Only 12lbs? I thought it can go up to 65lbs. Anyway, I would stick with OEM bolts.

I think he means 12 pounds of boost.

I have a boosted m20 but head gasket blew. I have it torn apart and in the process of putting back together. I bought mb as head bolts. But now I'm thinking no. How much are ARP and Vic R's?

Vic Rs I think are around $15 from Blunt.
ARPs are ~$240ish last time I checked, but I think they can be reused, which Vics cannot.
