    I am stumped

Just did my head gasket and all is button up. Double checked my timing with 3 revolutions and timing is on mark.

    New injector o-rings
    New HG/Bolts
    New WP/T-stat
All new gaskets for intake exhaust
    New NGK plugs
    New rotor button
Reused cap and wires (looked good)

Here is the problem....i've searched. Car crank and getting fuel. I swapped the connectors around with same results. I get long crank and sometime it sound like it want to fire up but it does not. Pulled the plugs and it's flooded. Cleaned plugs, blew out extra gas, reinstalled and no go. I am getting very weak spark (orange and not constant) when testing it with screw driver methods. I'm stumped, im leaning toward CPS or FPR but i don't want to start to throwing money at parts i don't need. Any help is much appreciated.

just a guess you damaged the CPS on the front of the motor? wires become very old and brittle and it don't take much to mess them up. I have had a problem before with this from getting coolant all over it during dis-assembly. It seems coolant would pool up where the CPS meets the wires. My problem the car would start but sputter.

hmmm... i blew everything out with air before assembly and i did notice the outside jack was brittle and cracked but the wires inside were ok, i think. Couldn't hurt to try another one. Would this be the cause of the weak spark and flooding the engine. What about the main relay? i swapped the fuel/o2 relay around too.

if u have a weak spark you would have flooding because spark wasnt great enough to burn the fuel. You sure you cap and rotor, coil are all good? maybe cap or rotor was accidentally dropped while off the car?

Since the engine has spark, though weak, and is injecting fuel, The CPS, main & fuel pump relays can be dismissed as causes. As can the possibility of mis-connection of the CPS and fuel lines. I'd replace the distributor cap and ignition wires at this point.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

ok, back to the parts store i got. i'll check back in.

I don't have a guage right now to check compression, but you guys think that could be the issues. I brought this car with a blown head gasket, i check for cracks while disassembled (with a magnifying glass..:) and put a carpenter square on the head and it looked straight. But i would think even if it was a warped head, it would still start but would run like shit, wouldn't it?

hard to say cause some people shut it down when it gets hot and some keep driving and its possible it could have got too hot.

My buddy had customer one time blow a head gasket and she cooked the motor so he told her if she ever got hot again to pull over immediately. Well she got hot again this time she pulled over but she left the car running and again cooked the motor. She told him she pulled over right away but failed to shut off because she needed the cigarette lighter to use her cell phone.

You should have a good spark regardless of what may have happened to the motor though...
