My car was doing this. New o2 sensor so i knew it wasnt that...traced it down to my TPS. Does the light go away while driving but comes back on for instance while coasting down a hill or while at a stop light?

I've tried all sorts of things to replicate the issue. Uphill, downhill, coasting, accelerating, driving hard for a distance... the only thing that seemed to make it happen more than once was a large bump in the road. But still, large bumps do not cause it every time. The issue is definitely better since the new fuel pump, but not completely resolved.

I did check the three relays. All of them look old. The connectors were pretty clean, but they all look like they've been hot. I have new relays on order.

I was sent the wrong fuel pump relay, so I was only able to replace the main relay. Replacing the main relay did not resolve my issue. Should receive correct fuel pump and O2 relays in the next day or so.

I'm beginning to wonder if I might have short in my CPS wire/connector or in the sensor wire/connector coming from the plug wire. But I'm going to continue with the relay approach first. Whatever the issue is, it's definitely causing a loss of fuel, possibly a loss of spark as well.

Intermittent issues are the worst, especially electrical ones.

One update... It was cutting out pretty bad yesterday at highway speeds. So while driving, I put it in neutral, then turned the car off completely, then started it again. Once restarted the car ran perfect.

I'm hoping I can get the opportunity to try this again. Since this made the symptom go away, I'm thinking it's relay or ECU related.

            Any thoughts?

If you haven't solved this yet check your engine ground. I was having similar issues that I first thought was fuel related but I recently replaced a gnarly looking engine ground and my bogging/bucking has been non existent since (3-1-13).

I still get the occasional CEL so the ground isn't the whole problem but it may be a contributor.

                  Engine ground is good.

I do think I found the primary issue which is one of the two issues I had at the same time. As stated, my fuel pump was going out and I replaced it. The second issue seems to be that darn round electical connection under the intake. There was a bit of corrosion in it. Sprayed it down real good and blew it out, no CEL or rough running since then. It's been about 5 days and 250 miles.

I did not replace the fuel pump or O2 relays yet, wanted to see if cleaning that connector fixed it. I still get a bit of a rough idle and hesitation when it's cold, so I may need to replace that connector all together. The coolant sensor is new.

Seeing as several different components run through that plug, it explains why I thought the issue could have been coolant temp sensor, injectors/fuel delivery, or timing sensor. I think that connector affects all of those components. I couldn't see the forest for the trees.
