    Oil Burning, I am stumped!

I finished my stroker motor and was driving it when the timing belt came loose. It turns out the oil pump drive gear had somehow worked the bolt loose causing the belt to shred and skip teeth.

Fast forward to me getting another head after finding a hairline crack in the other one. After install the car drives but smokes pretty bad, burning oil. It would pour out smoke under higher RPM and settle down at idle.

Thinking the head could use an overhaul I found another and rebuilt it. New valve seals, grinded the valves, check the guides and they were nice and tight. I also installed new intake gaskets. Well I just got finished putting this rebuilt head on and it still does the same thing.

The only thing I haven't changed is the intake manifold, but I am trying to figure out what could be causing it. Could the longer throw crank be throwing oil up the vent tube? Would a crack in the intake manifold runner between the vent tube leak oil into the intake?

I had never though about it but what keeps raw oil from passing straight up into the head since there is no PCV. I have heard about the e32 pcv problem and it seems similar to the problems I am having. I am discouraged after taking this thing apart and not solving the problem. Any ideas?

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

What are the compression and leak down numbers on the engine (dry and wet)?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I had a similar problem I don't know if it helps but it ended up being the oil breather tube thing from the manifold to the block the seals weren't properly seated so it caused oil to get sucked up and got stuck on the manifold throttle body and at every start up I blew smoke every where.

I will need to do a compression test to see what is going on. Does anybody have experience with the harbor freight compression tester? Yes blue smoke, smeel like smoke, oil is not milky.

Interesting, what were the symptoms and what was the solution? Did it slow down after idling for a while? I have two new o-rings on the breather tube, but I don't see how that would be any different than normal running operation since the tube connects the block to the intake.

Avoid the Harbor Freight tester. The end of it broke off in the head of my race car. Big time suck! Took a couple of us an hour of work to get the broken piece out and was damn lucky I didn't have to pull the head.

I'm a big fan of HF stuff, but not the comp tester!
