m20b25 or m20b27

Alright, I've been doing some research on this, and based on the intake manifold I believe I have an m20b25, however, according to carfax my car is a base 325 coupe and has a 2.7l. I have zero history on the car, so I'm wondering if it was swapped. Can you tell from this pic?

look for the block identifier ledge, IIRC spark plug side

That is definitely an M20B25 intake. But doesn't tell you what the engine actually is. You'd have to get a peek at top of a piston to know for more. CarFax is not all that reliable. Plug in the last 7 of the VIN at realoem.com to see what BMW thinks the car is.

Interesting... realoem tells me that, not only is my car a 2.7l, but it's also an automatic. I do know the difference between manual and automatic, and can tell you at least 90% certainty that it's a 5 speed. hm.

I should note, I actually ran AutoCheck, not carfax. Autocheck says 2.7l, so does realoem.

take your valve cover off and see if you have dual valve springs or single valve springs, dual valve springs are or a b25 325i and single valve springs are for the 2.7 seta motor ,

What year is your car doesn't the super eta use the I intake setup?

i bet that car is an engine swap. there is some weird ground wires. the SETA icv is L shaped. and the intake manifold is not the same as any seta i've seen.

Definitely a 325i intake and definitely a 325i engine harness and management.

Just thought I'd give an update. yert315 came out Friday to give me a hand with some maintenance, and we cracked the valve cover open... from the look of things, the bottom end appears to be original, but it has an i head and intake. The cluster was also swapped, so it appears to have been converted to a stroker. Lucky me, I guess. :)
