V-R Metal Rear Crank Seal Housing Gasket?

The V-R bottom end gasket set I bought came with a profiled metal gasket for the rear crankshaft seal housing. What's up with that? Has anyone used one of these with good results? Does it require any sealant to be oil tight? I'm concerned about building this into my stroker and having a really inconvenient leak. Thanks

No it's the gasket between the block and the aluminum housing that contains the rear crankshaft seal. I'm pretty sure the original gasket was a conventional fiber gasket material, but this Victor-Reinz replacement gasket is made out of steel with a rib stamped into the center of it. It's like one layer of a MLS head gasket.

I guess this metal seal is the factory configuration. Any idea if/what sealant is required? Thanks
