    sudden bad throttle response?

yesterday i noticed my car has started to have throttle response lag from idle.
when i get on the gas hard it drops about 100rpms and then starts to climb
also it feels like it has less power than it has had before but that could be just
the butt dyno telling me so.

and while i was checking for any obvious problems i noticed that there was
liquid of some sort seeping out from around the gasket on the square shaped
thing on the side on the throttle body... what it that? and would that cause
    me a problem?

These symptoms are most likely a failing AFM. See my signature and AFM link for more info about AFM signal.

The most common cause of a hesitation off idle is intake leaks. A smoke test is the only sure way of finding them.

The liquid you see on the left side of the throttle body is coolant. Replace the gasket and both hoses.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

i cleaned my afm and checked the resistance.
the temp was around 60F and the sensor read 610 ohms
the afm read 2800ohms closed and smoothly went up to about 3600 ohms when fully open

i found and fixed 2 small vacuum leaks. small improvement to idle but did not fix the problem
