325i Hard to start when hot.

I just picked up a 87 325i Car runs and idles great, It does have a hard time starting when hot, I did visual checks to the intake boot and hose connections and everything looks good. Dirty AFM? smells rich after starting.

Have a smoke test run to look for intake leaks.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

My friends car is having the same problem. Does it stutter when it starts?

Intake leaks are #1 as Jim Levie reminds us all early (in relevant threads) and often. Get that sorted before you start throwing parts at it.

Test your ECT as well (DMM) or just buy a new one (~$10).

Could be leaking injectors, might explain the rich smell on startup.
