    in need of help

ok so recently ive noticed that sometimes when im driving and i go to floor it itll get to about 4000 rpms and then start to stutter or mis..itll do it as long as im giving it all the gas but drives normal any other time..i can even floor it sometimes and it not do it..any suggestions on what it may be?and another clue is i can hear it missing through the exhaust and one time it made my car sound alot louder..oh and when i was doing my valve adjustment i seen where one of the black things(not sure what they are) right next to the rockers was bent a tad at the corner which was making it hit one of the rockers..wld that cause anything?

The WOT throttle behavior is consistent with a fuel delivery problem or a bad WOT switch in the TPS.

Use a meter or a test light to check the TPS. To diagnose a fuel delivery problem tee a gauge into the rail supply line, zip tie it to a wiper or the cowl, and see what the pressure does when the problem occurs.

No. There is no way a burnt up wire could cause an issue on a car.

                Yeah, right...

Seriously, the car is now 24 years old. The ignition parts should have all been changed for the second time four years ago. But the odds are they are what was on the car when it was built.

Replace the wires, distributor cap, rotor and plugs (with NGK ZGR5A). But I suspect that isn't going to solve the problem. And while you are wrenching the car is way overdue for a complete cooling system replacement, overdue for a new O2 sensor, and due for new motor/trans/diff mounts as well as FCAB's, subframe & trailing arm bushings. I would not be surprised to find that it has the original shocks, which died about 90k ago.

E30's are great cars, but most have suffered benign neglect for a long time.

Most everything you will need to put the car is good running condition needs to be a BME OE or OEM part. Don't waste money on used parts.

Mounts and bushings are on the list of new parts only.

over 440k on the original coil and wires on the '89iX. I would suspect the fuel pump (clean the sock too), fuel filter, then throttle switch.

Does it happen if you push it to around 90% throttle?
