    Cam shaft seal plate

I'm in the middle of doing my timing belt and cam shaft seal/o-ring. Got the cam shaft gear off and the two bolts that hold the plate to the head. The Bentley says to rotate the plate back and forth to get the plate off of the camshaft and head. My plate will not move with hand pressure only.

Is there some trick to breaking it free and getting the plate off? I tapped it a couple of times, but stopped before doing something stupid in frustration.

It sounds like the o-ring is stuck. Use moderate force to break it free.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Whatever you do, don't pry on it, they break easily. I use a 1/4" extension, stick it in the bolt hole and give a few light taps with a very small hammer to get it to start rotating, then you should be able to rotate it by hand.
