    m20 sparkplug gap

hey guys i replaced my plugs this morning I bought new plugs and i gapped the new one to 35. I checked the gap on the old ones and they where at 45. The valves sound a bit noisier is that normal?

Factory spec is .032 plus or minus .004.

.045 is way too much gap. I've read that plug gap can affect idle quality slightly, but you shouldn't adjust the gap to "fix" your idle or quiet valve tick (don't even know if that's possible).

Gap your plugs to .032 and forget about 'em for awhile. If your valves don't like the factory .010 gap, you've got worn valve guides and you'll just have to live with 'em. If that's the case, you can try tightening 'em a thou or two. You may lose a few ft-lbs on the butt dyno though.
