Diesel sound normal for M20?

    It is different because the rocker arm has a ratio. A given clearance at the valve is greater than at the cam.

    A non ratio (one to one) rocker would act as you describe.

      Oh snap. I dunno man, been adjusting mine at the cam and my car runs quiet and smooth :dunno:

        On the m20 it is not a huge ratio, don't quote me but i think the clearance difference between ends is only .001 or .002 inches.


        I was mainly posting just to point out you were wrong. :p

        It's easier to visualize on a rocker (lever) that has a large ratio, like 5 to 1.

          Also, it appears that there is no flex-pipe on the rear downpipe. Looks like someone removed it and welded a pipe in its place, is this a potential problem?

            My gf's has the same noise problem. I've been told it's the sound of sticking rockers, but you never know...
