It appears everything from 9/85 up has the same outer spring. The 88 reference was from a 325e lookup on REALOEM and the 91 was a 325i

might be why my old e30 323i from 84 was happy to hit 7k on single springs (atleast i think it was singles was along time ago)

E21 200 head was the only one with heavier single spring as far as i know, this spring interestingly enough is exactly the same rate and pressure as the later duel set of springs but it is physically bigger diameter so it requires matching base cups and retainers

SO>>>> this opens the door for a nice ghetto set of higher load springs by putting the inners from the later duel springs with the e21 323 outers. It works well i did it years ago and gives a nice increase, not enough for an all out race engine but great for a road warrior.

Im sure all the eta /seta heads with a single spring use the same slightly smaller od outer spring from the duel set

As for finding a 325 with single springs sounds like they ran out at the bmw factory one day and just sent a batch out without inner springs.... sure way to end up with broken rockers!!

Mine is an 12/86 325i single spring AMC head, and it will scream a beautifully high rpm.
