    Oil Temp/Pressure Gauge Idea

Current Oil Pan gasket needs to be replaced and the existing drain plug was stripped at some point (previous owner) and has some weird gasket drain plug set up but works. I have an Oil Temp and Pressure gauge that I have yet to set up. I've seen Mishimoto has a sandwich plate for NPT connections for about $100. The other debate is buying a new oil pan for $200ish and having a shop put in NPT adapters since I have to pull the pan anyways to replace the gasket.

    Thoughts?

You can't get oil pressure from a sender on the pan. I have both my pressure and temp on a block connected to the stock pressure location. Others have drilled and tapped a hole in the end of the filter adapter plate center bolt for their senders.

Buy the sandwich plate in eBay, not mishimoto.
It's the same thing but like 70 bucks cheaper.

Don't get an anodized collored one = bad ground.

Buy a splittler block that goes into the stock pressure switch location. I use one on my DD and my race car.

Temp and pressure from the pan is a bad idea. I know companies marketed drain plug sensors in the past but that was for convenience. The pan by design is an air cooled heat sink. On my 325i, the temp sensor in the pan read about 15 degrees cooler than the actual temp at the block/oil filter housing.

Thanks all, I bought an ebay sandwich plate but the fitment was not tight and I didn't want to risk it. Thought paying the extra $70 for the brand may make a difference.

                Where'd you buy yours from?
Mine hasn't leaked a drop thru 2 oil changes.

Not sure, it was through eBay though, was about a year or so ago. If I remember correctly the center seemed that it needed to be bored about 1/1000th more to fit. Haven't messed with it in awhile but now thinking I might as well.
