Help - pulled injector and pintle tip is gone

I pulled the injectors today and noticed as one came out the pintle tip wasn't there. I didn't see if it fell off or what. There is a chance that the tip fell off inside the engine when I was removing.

Could it have already been broken? None of the other tips came off during removal. I didn't see it when I looked inside the injector holes either. But if it did just fall off into my engine, what should I do?

It's plastic, it will get ground up if it's in there. But if you can use a flexible nut/bolt pick up tool like this

if you can see it grab it with one of these. Made of soft plastic for this very reason sometime they break off of them and drop into the chamber. Good no but happens.

Unless you really ham-handed the removal of the injector, it was probably gone sometime in the past. It is plastic and will go right through the engine w/o causing damage.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks for the help. I'm thinking it was long gone and probably caused some of my car's issues

That soft plastic is not going to bend a valve. It was made out of plastic for that reason. I wouldn't suggest you use it as a food processor but think about it. They break in your hand while applying them.

Well, ScottJ had some really crappy luck then. If the soft plastic gets stuck between the valve and seat, the piston can come up and finish the job.
