Poor idle/stall after installing TMS chip

Hello guys I'm fairly new here so don't gripe at me to hard if I do something forbidden.
So I recently purchased a TMS chip after all the good reviews people gave it. I have the correct number for my car(I doubled checked) so it couldn't be that. I've also made sure its on correct so scratch that off the list. The car had a real poor idle once started, the car does have 3/4 full of 91 octane gas so it also can't be that. Once I begin to drive it'll actually stall out on me, forcing me to start the car again. Is this a common issue? I put the original chip back in place and I still have the same results! I need advice! Thanks in advance!

This is common. Drive it for about 15 minutes slowly moving through the gears and rpm range. The ecu has to "relearn" the sensor readings. This happens to me each time I unplug the battery to work on stuff.

Well I tried what you advices me to do but still no luck. My rpm range is between 500 or less at start unless I give it gas. Could it be possible that I may need to do something to the engine? Not sure if this is something of importance but I hear a noise coming from the ECU when I turn it off. One more thing the ECU turns out to be from some company programainc? Could that have to do with anything?

Was your idle perfect before the chip? Switch back and see if anything shows up erratic to rule out vacuum or other sensor issue.

The car was peachy before, I've tried that as well and the same issue occurs?

E30 engine is old. Everytime you work on or around the engine you can create vacuum leaks. I am not sure if you have done anything to the engine when you replaced the ECU, but the symptoms point to vacuum leaks.

actually sounds like grounding/electrical issue. was the ECU mounted well into the glovebox? battery voltage good? had similar issues before and grounded everything a bit better, reset the ecu, and was on my way no problem. Just a thought!

If not that, then vacuum leak sounds appropriate.

How would I go about resetting the ECU?

unplug the battery for 5-10 minutes or unplug and then hold the brake down to drain residual power.

How long did you drive it for? Give it 15 minutes at least.

Well I did what squidmaster said and I guess it helped, it no longer stalls but it well sometimes get dangerously close it I leave it in neutral and give it gas. It also seems to fluctuate its idle but ill continue to drive it and see it it gets worse or better.

Did you do anything else when you installed the chip?....anything in the engine bay?

Have you ever removed an e30 ECU before? Are you certain all the pins and pushed in and the chip is all the way pushed down?

Nothing at all, it was my first time removing it and positive I've made sure its on there good.

Did you wear an anti-static wrist strap while you handled the chips?
