    m20 won't run right.

Okay so I bought a 1990 325is with a snapped timing belt and this is what I did....

    1. Replaced Timing belt - No start
    4. Removed Valve cover to find a broken rocker.
    3. Removed head and took it to a head shop and all the the exhaust valves were bent and 1 intake was bent
    4. Got that all replaced and bought a new rocker and head gasket set and put it together.
    5. Car starts right up wont idle once warm so I adjusted the AFM.
    6. Idles now but its really rough(engine seems smooth at higher RMPS)
    7. Unplugged the sparkplug wires one at a time while the engine was running which seemed to have no effect on it for cylinders 4, 5, and 6. (even with all at the same time)
Cylinder 5 seems to be the only one that changes nothing no matter what and yes it has spark.

Also I get a check engine with at idle most of the time. CEL 1215 I believe.

Next step I was going to try was compression test then check the injector.....

    All advice is appreciated.

    Test your o2 sensor.
    Smoke test for vacuum leaks.

I have a friend with the same prob. Fuel injectors are a common fault, but since the timing belt broke there could be other issues. I would check everything mentioned from everyone above ^

i would guess it's your injector harness.

the top goes through the metal, into the key, then the plastic retaining ring then the car side of the harness attaches. that was the issue i had one. it wasnt tight.
              Much wow

2nd that...also unplug the harness and clean with electrical solvent...
                check for injector pulse
remove injectors /cylinder affected and individually check to make sure they are spraying fuel

                check for compression
