Hey so I've done some searching and even checked out Bav Auto for this info, but came up dry. I just bought a head from a friend of mine with IE HD rocker arms and what he said was a 280 some Bav Auto cam. I checked around to see what the exact specs were, but as far as I can see Bav Auto doesn't make a cam. They do retail the Shrick 288, though. So if anyone knows whether Bav Auto used to make a 280 cam or I got a steal on a Shrick, I'd appreciate any info.

Hey Stan, a Schrick cam will have "schrick" cast into the camshaft. If it doesn't have that the next thing I'd do is measure the base-circle on one the lobes to see if the cam has been reground. Here's an older quote on how to measure your base circle.

The factory M20 eccentric allows for approx. 0.060 of adjustment. If the base circle of the reground camshaft is reduced more than .060 (The original factory cam base circle is approx. 1.1", so you'll measure the difference on the reground cam) then you will obviously no longer be able to adjust the valve lash with the factory eccentric.
Oversize eccentrics will offer an additional .060 of adjustment.
