starter staying engaged after car starts

Let me start by saying i just finished my 5 speed swap. I have already burned out on starter because of this issue before i noticed what was happening. When i turn the car on it turns over but then you can hear the starter still whining.

Make sure the solenoid is good and wired correctly without any shorts. The smaller wires break easily when you torque the nuts down and the wire can eventually break with engine vibration and short with the other terminals causing all kinds of problems.

I had the same issues. Just had my starter rebuilt and worked fine after.

i have just replaced one of the terminals because it broke off when installing the starter. I was also wondering if there is supposed to be 4 wires going to the starter? because there are four terminals on the starter. I only have 3 wires. Power, Ground, and a little bitch wire coming off of the power line that i have on the bottom terminal

Sounds like you need an early 3 wire solenoid.
