    Valve adjustment after Head gasket?

I recently had a HG leak so I replaced that after getting the head planed/leveled at the machine shop. Prior to installing the head I did a valve adjustment. Any reason I would need to do it again after a couple hundred miles?

Why? Does it make a lot of noise?

No noise. Just curious if it's common practice or not.

It takes all of 20min to check them to make sure they are in spec. yes, do them again if the head was off when the valves were adjusted then they will have re-seated and may be too tight. if you are hard on the car, they should be checked every 3k. but it's a must to check them after ~500 into a rebuild.

I'd recommend checking them. Mine closed up .005" after installing the head. I couldn't figure out why the idle was so rough.

The answer is most definitely yes. They were TIGHT!

I wish this was mentioned in the Bentley manual or somewhere. You wouldn't think that the head would deflect enough to change the clearance significantly, but apparently it does.
