    2.7 Q's

Hey guys, I recently bought a 1987 325e and I have a couple questions. It already has all new bavauto plugs and wires. Also has some really nice noname long tube headers and custom exhaust. I wanna do the I head swap and have seen that I'll need to do this stuff also. i intake manifold, i throttle body, i injectors, i AFM(air fuel module), i FPR(fuel pressure regulator 3.0bar), all i pulleys(fan, water pump, crankshaft), i belts, i thermostat housing, i 173ecu(computer in glove box), all 1.1/1.3 Motronic harness and sensors. I'm also thinking of doing the Bimmerheads 272 cam. Other than a Mark D is there anything else I should add to help out? Also is there a good way for better compression than the 8.3:1 because I don't really plan on turbo in the near future as I am a broke college kid. Thanks for any help guys!

You do not need the i pulleys(fan, water pump, crankshaft), i belts, and i thermostat housing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Been tuning BimmerHeads cams for a while now! Lots of people here have a very similar setup that I've tuned. Let me know if I can help out in any way.

For higher CR you can use dished pistons, get custom pistons, or shave the head a little.

Ok cool. Good to know that I don't need all that other stuff. Squidmaster, what kind of tune do you use. Do you do a chip or do you have a MS program I would have to buy. I'm notreally too knowledgeable when it comes to tuning.

I have chips and MS files. Most common are chips though. I also have prechipped ECUs if you haven't gotten that part yet. All available in my sig or my FS threads

Also check out this page, it's the holy grail of compression.

U will need the harmonic balancer and cps and bracket for the harness to work cuz the late harness doesn not have bellhousing sensors for reference and speed and the water pump pulley so u don't need to find a longer belt other than that find an 87 harness and it's pretty much plug and play

This is coming from first hand experience btw I did the 2.7i swap last year

Edit: don't forget the I plug wires for the sensor wire

you will also need the head...didnt see that up there ;) but yes. your bav auto spark plug wires need to have the impulse wire as well. the o2 sensor on your exhaust also will have to be modified or moved to fit the 1.3 plug. check out the 2.7i sticky. i put a pretty long post in there explaining any issue that i encountered that wasnt already in the thread, hope it helps.

That's a very good point that most people forget!

good to hear, that would be an awesome upgrade for 2.7i guys, because who wants to build a 2.7i and have to use a 2.5 chip just to run a MAF? it just wouldn't be right.

Ok I have another question. I just found a m20b25 for dirt cheap with low miles. For maximum power should I just swap in the b25 or should I put the I motor head, cam, and pistons into the ETA motor?? Thanks guys!
