    oil return tube question.

hey r3vers, replacing my starter and decided to take off the intake manifold in order to make it easier on myself since i am alone. i am hoping for someone to help me with the seals of the oil return tube. from what i did and saw, there are three seals/ o-rings that go over it when assembled. am i correct or wrong? because i had three. when i went to a local parts store, they only had 2 in there system. last question: is there specific order/ location (top or bottom) that each seal should go in? or can i just place either one in either the top or bottom?

One on top and one on bottom. Use a zip tie to compress the spring to make it easier on you.

its a crank case vent tube, the oil returns from head to block via 6 holes in the head and block

          Ok look... 2 o-rings, 1 washer.

O-rings are identical, you should have a washer above the O ring that gets installed on the bottom of the tube.

Anytime, the zip tie trick mentioned above is great advice as well.

1 washer, 2 o-rings. Washer goes between the spring and the bottom oring and is absolutely necessary in order to prevent the spring from chewing thru the oring.

I saw an engine that had the return tube JB Weld. Any pros or cons to doing this?

                      cons:
you can't remove your intake manifold
                      you are a terrible redneck

                      Pros:
                      It don't leak no more

I saw the car at a meet some years ago. I never said anything to the owner but I was always like, WTF....... Lmao. Just thought of it when I saw this thread. The guy was bragging about how hard a vacumn leak it was to find and r&r. So it hit it with the JB.

I wind the spring over the lip of the tube. No zip ties, dead easy.
