    Lightened flywheel on M20?

Thinking of getting one for my m20. I currently have access to a chip as well (but currently stock).

Aside from this, everything else is stock.

Someone I know is offering one of the TMS ones that are 8 lbs(vs. stock 18lbs) and used, but with good teeth on it. he wants $300 for it/

worthwhile? Also, any personal reviews on these things?

    thanks in advance
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

i would have your stock one lightened.
there is no reason to lighten it to 8lbs unless it is a pure racecar.
      Much wow

it used to be a daily, but now it'll be my Sunday racer!

(and by racing I mean I enjoy blipping the throttle to impress 17YO chicks, and embarrassing their boyfriends' Prius in stop light races....or at least attempting to)

from what I've seen, it's far cheaper to just have mine lightened

a lightened flywheel is gonna do shit for giving you an edge over anyone.
Chip, injectors, cam, and a full engine rebuild will smoke any other bolt on mod.
pulled apart an eta engine last week. it looks nearly mine. found out after pulling that it had a blow piston oil ring. save for a full refresh. no joke, you will smoke any other e30. a refreshed stock m20 with 0 mods will beat a 200k m20 with chip, injectors, lightened-flywheel.

A lighter flywheel is relatively cheap and sounds like it might make your driving more fun...just don't expect miracles. Plenty of threads on this topic.

It wont increase HP, it will just get what you have to the wheels sooner. And it might stall easily if you don't rev high enough starting off. (friction point)

the lighter the car and the lower the gearing the more you will notice a lightweight flywheel. so in neutral the effect will be alot more than in top gear. its not a massive effect

for example in 1st gear halving the weight of the fly will feel like the car is 50kg lighter or has an extra 6fl-bt torque across the board which is about 5hp at 6000rpm.
in second gear the effect it will be like 1/3 of what it is in 1st.
in third the effect will be about half of what it was in 2nd
in 4th you get the picture...
