    M20 B25 timing advance specs

    Guys (and gals),

    I'm trying to check the ignition advance timing with a timing light. I have googled far and wide and I can't for the life of me find any information to compare to i.e

    @1000 RPMs ==> XX deg
    @2500 RPMs ==> XX deg

    I am running a stock set up, 173 ECU
    I want to check cause I think maybe i might have slipped the woodruff key in the harmonic balancer, leaving me with poor running issues during closed loop operation. [before telling me to check X or Y, i have recently replaced: spark plugs, wiring harness, dizzy cap, dizzy rotor, coil, new injectors, coolant temp sensor, O2 sensor, CPS, and performed vacuum and compression tests.]

    ALSO, what is correct procedure for the timing light, do i need to disconnect the vacuum hose (such as from FPR to intake) to run this test?

    Thanks

    While the crank hub is indexed to the crank with a key, the harmonic balancer is indexed with a dowel pin. There is pretty much no way for either to have "slipped". Unless the harmonic balancer rubber mount has failed or the dowel pin is missing the timing will be correct.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      as eluded to there are still a whole of more likely issues than those you think

        Agreed, it is unlikely, but I'm trying to rule that out, so any timing numbers to compare against would be helpful
