Ok, so i had a question. I was always under the impression that the timing mark on the cam sprocket and the head were to be dead on. I got these photos from the internet from pelican, e30tech and bimmerforums and they all show the mark on the head matching up to the beginning of the tooth on the sprocket....is that correct ?

I was never able to get lined up perfectly either. The difference in timing there is very small and will probably work itself out the first time you turn it over.
Make sure that first time is by hand to make sure nothing is smashing.Comment

Angle of incidence.
Basically you aren't looking at the marks dead-balls-on so it appears off to a degree.
On the 2nd picture both marks line up with the "3" stamped on the TB so they are aligned dead on but the picture makes them appear to be off.
