which gaskets and parts to use on the m20

Ok, so im most deffinatly getting the m20 now.
Im trying to make a list up of how much this is gonna end up costing me. there are a couple of things that i want to do and i was wondering what the best brands are to get and where to get them.

    Head gasket set?
    clutch kit?
    V belts?
    oil pan gasket?
    hoses?
thats all i can really think of right now...
what else do should i do while the motors out of the car?

m20 motor mounts, water pump, timing belt and tensioner. If you get both the top and bottom end gasket sets they will replace every gasket and o-ring seals on the engine. I don't recall if the head set comes with injectors o-rings though. I can let you know in about two weeks. I will be ordering a full 325i head gasket set a week from this friday.

Also don't forget other parts for the engine like the AFM and the coolant resivor. It is also a good idea to change the center support bearing on the drive shaft and the flex disc.

i dont plan on getting the bottom end set, was just gonna replace and freshen up the top end.

That looks like a good kit. You can compare prices at places like www.bmaparts.com and www.bavauto.com

I'm not sure which brand is the best. I will be ordering the REINZ brand head set. Just make sure you get a can of the copper gasket spray and use it on the head gasket. you can get it at a local parts house like advance auto, autozone, etc.
