    2.7i question

So previous owner has already swapped the throttoe body and intake manifold with a 325i part, i was wondering what performance boosts could i expect from swapping the ecu, valve springs and etc. i wanted to swap everything except the head and pistons.

Was also wondering what kind of differences in fuel economy would i see?

biggest things with 2.7i is probably the better head (not an issue if you start with a SETA) and camshaft (which is terrbible with both ETA or SETA) that suit power and torque over 4000rpm. the throttle body and manifold are merely icing on the cake to those.

are you starting with ETA or SETA?

Just get a chip for your ECU, it will wake it up with the added air flow you have. I ran my 325e just like that when I started modding it.

Already have a turner motor sports chip in my ecu, car is lowered as well. Was thinking upgraded ecu, with camshaft and valve springs would add performance without adding the head?

        Any idea on fuel economy?

yes but would be not nearly as much

So essentially what has been done already is adding as much performance as possible besides doing a head swap?

should be an improvement above 4000rpm but its still a mismatched combination of parts. even the b25 manifold on the eta head can create a step at the interface due to the vast difference in cross sectional area an shape do you know if this was addressed? usually you would want a 731 or 885 head with the b25 intake manifold

the other thing is you need a decent tune, maybe contact squid

If you loom at an ETA head there is not too much hope when the word performance arises. You could swap in a new cam, valves, and springs and make a little more power. However for less money and hassle you could just but the whole I head and swap that in. They are always for sale around here. I actually have one I'm getting ready to sell. If it were me I would look into decking the head for a higher CR

ok. well I do know I still have the original head, what kind of fuel economy would I be looking at here?

I drive my cars in 2 modes here, performance drive like a badass mode, and fuel economy grandma mode.

I am wondering what kind of economy can I expect if I drive a fully head swapped 2.7i like a grandma?

About the same mileage as you get now, with the 2.7i driven in grandma mode. There is so much torque, you can short shift and be as frugal as you want. Floor it and its a completely different motor with the i head.

how much further do I have to go?? how long will this likely take?

Read this - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...t=motronic+1.3 its all right there. I did it in a weekend (alone two weeks after lumbar spinal fusion), with the head sitting there all ready to bolt on, and all the pieces on hand.

Not really too keen on a engine swap at this point. I am starting with a chipped and lowered eta that already has the i manifold and throttle body attached.
