    325e M20b25 swap

I'm thinking of swapping a b25 into my eta. The motor I'm looking at is the same year, 1987 and is missing intake and exhaust manifolds with no accessories. so would the E harness work if I swapped over the Ecu and all I parts as well? I know the main differences are the fuel rail and intake, TB and that sort of stuff.

when u swap you need to use all the I stuff including the harness since the CPS is in a different spot at the front of the engine and the injectors have a different impedance

Oh I see, that makes sense. Obviously I'd need the Ecu and cluster and all that stuff. The b25s use the toothed pulley for the cps right?

Yeah I've read through that a couple of times, just was curious as it doesn't mention much about the 2.7 being different. I also just wanted to know how different they are

Get the harness from the 87 325is it plugs and plays with no modification, the other harness from the late model 325i/is I think you have to modify.

It's the 87 face-lift that changed the c101 wiring which is what you have to modify. My car was made before the 09/87 change

The 87i harness is plug and play. His info is correct.

To answer your original question, you need EVERYTHING from the B25 engine. Harness, ECU, injectors, FPR, AFM, CPS, pulleys, TPS. None of the Eta sensors, wiring, etc will work.

I see, thanks for the input. Just gonna take me a while to source the right harness. Still debating between the full swap versus an 885 head swap

You can use the late model harness too, just need a couple mods. No big deal.

Almost better off using the late model harness and ECU for the 1.3. It wouldn't work with an 87 though would it?

I did this swap with my car, like MR325 said, you'll need all those things. Your tach wont work after so you'll need to splice wires in the glove box (unless you get an early harness I'm guessing). The only thing that doesn't work on my car to this day is the econ gauge. No idea why, kinda bothers me, but not enough to figure it out to be honest.

Economy gauge isn't that important anyways haha. That's no big deal I'll need the cluster anyways
